Week One

It has been one week since wee baby McCoy was born. We brought him home on Saturday, after a two night stay in the hospital. Unfortunately, it was not quick enough and the nurses diagnosed him with Jaundice, meaning he was a yellow baby. All sorts of tests and phone calls ensued to try to convince the doctors that A, it is most likely from a blood disorder that Beth that we are well aware of and B, there are home treatments available for him such as the billibed (photocell suitcase type thingy) and feeding. Without getting into it, we were able to keep him from being re-admitted into the hospital and he is thriving. He loves to sleep, eat and poop...in that order. I have included a few more pictures from the delivery for you enjoyment. More recent ones will appear soon.
Beth and McCoy with Dr. Mark Dwight who delivered him. The best doctor bar none and I'm serious.

Who could resiste eating such cute little feet

I think jaundice runs in our familia--I am glad you convinced them. However i do hat eht billirubin attached tothem so you have tos tay in one room ALL the time. Is he going tohave tests run for the blood disorder? ANY doctor that sits and massages their patients in labor IS a rockin' doctor!!!He looks chunkier in the face in his bath pictures. you forget how small and beautiful baby feet are. Welcome our little man--can;t wait to meet him!

Hi Beth,

Your son is so cute! I wanted to ask you more about dr. Dwight. I am considering going to him as I found it is hard to find a doctor who is supportive of a natural birth. Can you tell me what you liked the most about dr.Dwight? Did you give a birth in the Good Sam hospital and how was your overall experience? Is it true that they have labor tubs you can use and birthing balls? Thank you so much for your time in answering this couple questions.

Jen

I chose Dr. Dwight after an intense search for doctors and hosipitals in LA that would allow VBAC deliveries. He is the best because he believes that the way you want to deliver your baby is the best for you. He is a good decision maker, and makes you feel like a phenomenal women for choosing to have a baby. At Good Sam, the labor and delivery area is wonderful. They do have labor tubs and birthing balls, but need to be requested as soon as you enter the hospital when you're in labor, as they don't have enough for everyone.
